Sometimes I try new crazy things and this time it is about how to take down paper model "skin" from the existing plastic model. The actual model I used is Alfa Romeo 158 F1 car, produced by SMER.
First I have glued together parts of the car's body which I wanted to copy. Then I have used Tamiya masking tape to cover all the body.
Next step was unifying the Tamiya tape by a layer of white paper glue. And after glue has dried, I have sprayed it by a paint from the spray can.
Then I sketched all my new "paper" segments on the surface.
Using sharp knife I have cut the "skin" at the seams and took down the parts.
Parts taken down I put directly on a sheet of paper.
And this is what I got:
Now I will scan it, oversketch in CAD, do fine correction of the parts in PC, add some gluing tabs, print and try to build it.
It looks to me this method could work.
