Greetings,
This is my first paper model of any complexity. Years ago, my best friend and I used to build small scale paper model warships, and years later I did a few merchant ships. But a sailing ship is something I've wanted to try for some time. I've had a copy of this since 1992, and figured it would be a good place to start. However, I chose instead to purchase another copy for the actual project.
There were some issues with the hull, quite possibly my mistakes. I made new pieces from raw sienna cardstock from Hobby Lobby, almost a perfect match for the color of most of the hull. There are a number of pieces replaced with wood (the masts, the cannon, some hull detailing), and I made fabric sails. I also made my own blocks and deadeyes.
This is where the model is as of this evening, April 7th, 2016. Structurally, it is finished, but I still need to add some details.

Cheers,
- Robert
