transparency film cut with machine

I tested out cutting transparency film on my cutting machine today. It cut beautifully. One important tip, if you use dashed lines on the folds it will bend repeatedly without fracturing on the fold. If you were to do a shallow continuous score line then it would surely fracture on that line when you go to bend it.

By using a layers techique you can draw colored lines onto your windows with permanent markers as well as cut them. See your machine and drawing program instructions for using layers.

Because these machines evolved from pen plotters many companies sell pen holders to use in them. There is a store on Etsy that 3D prints custom pen holders for various machines that are sized exactly for some of the most common permanent markers including Sharpies. I like the black Sharpie that is rated for industrial ink as it grips good and strong to the plastic. But don't use any alcohol based cleaners if you draw on with permanent markers as they are not alcohol resistant. This is the link to the Etsy store that sells pen holders, they are very nicely made, I have several of them. http://ift.tt/1ZJopsl

For the best ultra clear glue I would recommend using a super glue that states on the label that it is for gluing plastic. it can be difficult to glue transparency plastic, white PVA glue is not reliable for it.

So why cut transparency film? For canopies and for making windows for lighthouses. For the lighthouses you can create one continuous panel with the lines at the edges of the glass drawn onto the film.
