It would seem it was a good weekend for paper benders.
My club, Central Arkansas Scale Modelers, in conjunction with our
annual Sproo Doo show, hosted the IPMS Region VI show and contest.
Region VI consists of Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas and Oklahoma.
We had 314 models entered, in every imaginable genre. Wood ships
and wagons to resin, styrene and paper.
I had five entries, 2 in humor category, 2 in paper category, and one
in the large scale scratchbuilt/conversion category.
In total, I brought home 4 silvers and a gold.
The Imperial Shuttle took Silver in the Paper Category

And the Titan II took a Gold in the Paper Category.
It was also judged as the Best Miscellaneous Class winner.
In this class, it beat out about 30 entries.

The aircraft class was brutal. They judged it hard, as a Regional
contest should be. While the Fokker only took a silver in its category,
the overall aircraft winner was a spectacular F-4.
But.....
The Fokker D.VIII was chosen as the winner of the Lester Hetzel Memorial
award for Best Pre WWII aircraft. This award is sponsored by the
Oklahoma Historical Modelers Society.

It was my last event as President of our club, and it was a great, fun day.
Many conversations were held concerning paper models. I actually kept count
of the number of disbelievers (7), and the number of times another club member
brought someone to me so I could talk about how to make paper models.
A great day indeed!
