1/144 YA-10 Prototype

Here is the finished YA-10, as seen in the build thread here:

http://ift.tt/1k0COPu

The main appearance differences in the YA-10 and the production A-10s are-
1) The 20mm cannon was installed, as the 30mm GAU-8 was not ready
2) The YA-10 lacked the lower forward fuselage strakes.
3) No wing slats inboard of the landing gear pods
4) The lower leading edge of the vertical stabilizer had an angled cut, instead of the round cap on the production versions.
5) There was no ECM gear installed, nor chaff/flare pods
6) The main landing gear doors had a small door on the forward part of the pod, instead of the "all doors on strut" arrangement of production versions
7) The nose landing gear door was a single piece door.
8) The large instrumentation boom on the nose.

Cool fact about the A-10. Most systems were redundant through out the aircraft.
Also, many aircraft parts can be swapped from left to right, or right to left.
Examples are the engines, engine pods, horizontal stabilizers, vertical stabilizers, actuators, main landing gear struts, etc.

So, lets take a little walk around. There are several construction errors, due to my own faults. I hope to have these eliminated on future builds.

This kit will be available exclusively from Ecardmodels.com
Some folks may scoff at these kits, but let me tell you. For a single
dollar ($1 USD) these are incredibly fun little kits. Bruno has done an excellent job on these designs, and I plan on adding many more in the future.
