Yesterday I attended the AMPS (Armor Modeling and Preservation Society) Regional show in Danbury CT. I entered 2 paper models, and 2 of my figures. The Holt 1-man tank was entered in the scratchbuilt category (I designed it, after all), and the WH40K Steam Tank was entered in the Sci-Fi category. My entries were the very first paper models that have ever been displayed at this regional AMPS event. Ever. Virtually no one, the judges, other competitors, and the viewing public, had ever seen a paper model before, and all were absolutely agog - and mind you, these are pretty simple models as paper goes. I think a well built Halinksi 1/25 scale tank would cause heads to explode.
I was gratified at how well this "new" medium was received, especially by the judges. Both models received gold medals in their respective categories. The figures did well too: the Kuban Cossack received a gold medal, and the Bavarian Lancer was awarded Best Figure.
The AMPS National show is at this same venue (Crowne Plaza Hotel) in Danbury CT in April 2017, so hopefully we can assemble a contingent of paper modelists and do some representin'.
There are threads on both the Holt one man tank and the WH40K Steam Tank in the forum if anyone cares to check out more/better photos.
