Streetpaper Ford Galaxie

As some would say, I'm late for the party, but could use the Streetpaper Ford Galaxie for a model railroad I'm planning. I'm hoping for 1966-1972 period-correct vehicles assembled in the Philippines and Volker's style looks like it'll shrink to scale nicely.

His bonus civilian 4-door from the 2013 advent calendar would fit right in, and I haven't read anything about him objecting to the occasional request, so can anyone help me out by PM?

By the way is it just my slow connection, or is anybody else getting timed out of Streetpaper and Racepaper way too often?

Thanks a lot!

Union 12 Pounder

Hello all,

This is a scratch-build using a variety of materials. The carriage is from card over a pine core, wheels will be from an old Merit kit with card additions and the barrel has been turned from brass. After my Gettysburg visit, this was a must do. I hope you all enjoy.

Murph's Model beta build - Naval Aircraft Factory N3N Canary aka "Yellow Peril", 1/34

The upcoming beta build is Aaron's Yellow Peril in 4 liveries. Just began the
Yellow Peril with floats. Began actually means a quick build of the fuselage to
determine the scale of this model. Measuring 9 inches long from tip of prop to
end of tail fin, the YP comes at a scale of 1/34 very close to the popular 1/33 that
many of the papermodeling community are happy with. The fit is so far so good
and everything lines up perfectly. Aaron worries about the float and I'll be
testing it later on. So here's some sneak peek of the YP in its truly yellow colour,
just one cylinder on the engine block and half a prop as a teaser. Almost
forgot to say that the kit comes with a beaching cradle for the float version.
Have started drooling, haven't you?

Schreiber Bogen Lockheed U2 Spyplane, WANTED

Hello my friends.

I recently found out that the famous Geman printer Schreiber once had a Lockheed U2 card model. I would love to have one. Being out of production, a scanned version would be fine. Anybody can help? Thanks.

Lars homestead

When Vermin_King created his Mos Eisley diorama, I wanted to see if I was able to create the Lars homestead (aka Luke Skywalker's house on the desert planet).

The biggest challenge both in geometry and texturing was the dome. Until now I have been happily doing flat walls, slanted roofs and maybe a one directional curved surface like a cylinder column. I have built this BB-8 model some time ago but that was made by someone else, yet still a good way to get some experience with curved surfaces.

After a little research I started designing the model in Blender.

And a quick test rendering to see how it looks.

With the excellent paper model unfold and export tool I was able to quickly create this first test.

As you can see, it is a plain "outside surface" version. For this I just underglued the dome tabs to make it work.

I build my models usually in the right scale to match with these miniature figures. So when I put one next to the building, I wanted to make the roof come off so you can do, well whatever you or Gandalf would do, INSIDE the building :)

to be continued ...

J-22 Tiny Swedish Wooden Wonder 1/33

All,

While I'm waiting for some A4 paper to print out the PZL, I couldn't help but start the J-22 from, I think, Modele (not sure of the manufacturer...any help?). This is my first kit model and I have to say, it's kind of daunting to actually cut the paper! However...here is a very early start...

I started the crank case which fit very well. The cylinders look complicated but if I just take my time, I think they will be ok. I only added a paper tab on the conical face of the case which made it easier to close it up.

Then I attempted the spinner of doom . I searched around on this site and found Gil's great download on petal spinners. After one failed attempt (the nasty one) I got it to work ok! I will now fill the inside with a bit of epoxy, sand the exterior, fill, sand, prime, sand...etc. Until I get the finish I want. Then a shot of red and she'll be perfect! I must say, that technique is pretty awesome...

Attachment 296277

My plan is to try and make this model super nice and enter it in a Spring model show here in Seattle. Could be fun .

Boy...I'm glad I scanned the plans so I could make another spinner!

Loving this hobby.

Dan

"Devil Girl From Mars" - Chani

Next up. Chani, the robot from the vintage sci fi thriller "Devil Girl From Mars".
I have started the modeling process. The basic model is almost ready in my 3d software. Have to think about the clear bucket on it's head ...maybe make a version with a plastic cap, and the head innards modeled, and one with a print of the innards on a card bucket.
Here's a pic!

Imaginary Creatures from Popular Game

This Japanese language blog features a whole herd of paper model downloads
of imaginary collectible creatures from a game that has enjoyed world wide popularity for over a decade.
I have never played the game myself but from what I have heard the object of the game
is to capture wild forest creatures and force them to fight other creatures.

Akc 74y

Hello guys here i go again.
The choice fell to the classic AK family, specifically the AKc 74y, which is short with a cool looking muzzle.
I found some files for a sandwich style model of the weapon, if i build it right it will cycle cartridges from the mag to the chamber and eject them after pulling the bolt.
It also has a working trigger group and bolt carrier so it is possible to make bullets filled with primers to fire a bb or something but i wont be doing that becouse well..its paper so you never know.
Have a nice day .

1/144 YA-10 Prototype

Here is the finished YA-10, as seen in the build thread here:

http://ift.tt/1k0COPu

The main appearance differences in the YA-10 and the production A-10s are-
1) The 20mm cannon was installed, as the 30mm GAU-8 was not ready
2) The YA-10 lacked the lower forward fuselage strakes.
3) No wing slats inboard of the landing gear pods
4) The lower leading edge of the vertical stabilizer had an angled cut, instead of the round cap on the production versions.
5) There was no ECM gear installed, nor chaff/flare pods
6) The main landing gear doors had a small door on the forward part of the pod, instead of the "all doors on strut" arrangement of production versions
7) The nose landing gear door was a single piece door.
8) The large instrumentation boom on the nose.

Cool fact about the A-10. Most systems were redundant through out the aircraft.
Also, many aircraft parts can be swapped from left to right, or right to left.
Examples are the engines, engine pods, horizontal stabilizers, vertical stabilizers, actuators, main landing gear struts, etc.

So, lets take a little walk around. There are several construction errors, due to my own faults. I hope to have these eliminated on future builds.

This kit will be available exclusively from Ecardmodels.com
Some folks may scoff at these kits, but let me tell you. For a single
dollar ($1 USD) these are incredibly fun little kits. Bruno has done an excellent job on these designs, and I plan on adding many more in the future.

What do you do with completed architectual cathedral models?

I am building my first architectual model, St Stephens, and am trying to determine what I will do with the model when completed. I am enjoying the build, with the exception of the tiny pinnacles.

This cathedral model is rather large and once completed it will occupy a lot of space in my home. Other paper models I have completed have all found new homes because I had a recepient in mind when I tackled the build. Also, to be honest, I really would rather not keep any of them around after completing the build. For me the build is the challenge, once completed I am ready to move on to the next build. I typically take photos of the completed models and then give them away. It is the same for the wooden ship models I have built, only one remains in the house.

I do not know anyone in particular who would enjoy living with this model once completed. Maybe I should not have taken on this build, but here I am.

Hence, the subject question. I am looking for any ideas or suggestions.

Corel Draw x7

Hi!
I would like to buy Corel Draw x7 (not 8!), because at present, version 7 is the last version able to handle the cutting plotter Silhouette Cameo through Silhouette Connect. I know that version 7 is available on Amazon.com (USA), but from Italy it is not possible to purchase it.
What can I do? Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot,
PINO

Mark I tank models compared

Just out of curiosity I thought I'd build the WoT Mark I Male and compare it during the build to Wayne McCullough's Mark I Male (on Landships II) and possibly to Helen Lawson's drawings/the original tanks.

I've already built a grey Mark I Male in 1/50 - rescaled from Wayne's published 1/72 scale.

Getting started - the two track frames are built as separate units. When I was cutting the first one out I thought the profile was a bit out on the WoT version.
A bit of digging around and I think the circular ends on the WoT model are a bit small and this throws the profile out.

Regards,

Charlie
