DC-3 "Sister Ann" by TMSC (1:100)

DC-3/C-47 "Sister Ann" by TMSC (1:100)

I just started building this nice kit by TSMC.

A few moons ago it was a free download from: ??????????

I am warming my hands again after a long time without some serious modelling.

The kit itself is just two letter-sized pages of parts.
(Which I print together in a single A3 page)

The instructions come in the third page. But they're in Japanese.
I used an online translator to translate them. But it turns out
the construction is rather simple. Just follow the numbered order of the parts.

The green areas indicate where to glue. I cut out most of these
and used instead connecting strips. Be careful if you do the same,
as some of these areas will be needed as structural support.

Even at 1:100 scale, this kit has three formers inside the fuselage.

To help me placing them correctly I added a holding tab
on each side of the former. That way I can use a tweezer to hold it
and place it where it belongs.

The fit is very precise. And use of thick paper could be a problem.
The nose shows it (maybe too many connecting strips inside).

I made a couple mistakes cutting, and the macro photo really shows them as huge,
but they're not so evident in a casual view.

Fuselage complete. Will continue the rest soon!

The kit is really well designed.

Every panel and rivet line is true to that of a real DC-3.
That's a very nice detail.

So far the geometry of the fuselage and the cockpit are really good
and resemble with great accuracy the real thing.

At 1:100 there are some details that get lost, but that's to be expected.
Despite that, the kit looks very promising and delightful to build.

Fokker Dr I - Der Kampfflieger - in 1/100 scale

Hi people

After a long delay build of Fokker Dr I 425/17 from famous Red Baron, is a delight model to build and very easy, ideal for beginners, the original is 1/72 scale, but I reduce for 1/100 of course...

Best regards!

It's Memorial day here in the U.S.

A day to remember those who gave their lives defending our country. I rode my bike over to Victory Memorial Drive here in Minneapolis. This is the memorial park at the north end of the drive.

On one side is a short history of WWI, some biographies of Minneapolis natives who served in the war, and the lists of 568 Hennepin county natives who didn't come home

On the other side are excerpts from the dedication speeches of Marshall Ferdinand Foch, General John Pershing, and a history of Victory memorial drive.

Here's a view looking south down the drive. There are 568 trees planted along the drive-one for each of the fallen.

and one of the dedication plaques alongside the trees.

Many of the original elm trees were lost to Dutch Elm Disease in the '70s, but they've been re-planted with other species. In a few years it'll be back to where it was before.
Thanks for looking, and I hope you all had a great weekend.

Repaint of Nobi's SBD Dauntless VS-37 by John Bowden

This is a re-color of Nobi's SBD-5 done by John Bowden. It's for an SBD of VS-37 assigned to the Atlantic Fleet in February 1944. It was tasked with anti-submarine warfare (ASW) duties.

The model went together very nicely without any real issues at all. I expect that will also apply to Nobi's original model. While the model is not especially detailed for 1/48 scale it does capture the lines of the SBD quite well.

Hope you like it. As for me I'm just happy to finally have finished a model after a very long period of started, but not completed efforts.

John has not as yet released this model but probably will do so sometime soon.

Curt

PM Article and Demo in Local IPMS Club

I was invited by my local San Antonio, Texas, IPMS club to give another talk on Paper Modeling, and an article that can go with it.

But instead of writing and talking about what it is, I wrote an article about how I built the Maly Modelarz F-14 Tomcat Aggressor.

On Thursday's talk, I will bring my tools, and one of Dave Winfield's P-51, and build it there - not all of course, but so much as the fuselage, wings, and how to do it.

If you remember, back 2013 I gave a talk to the IPMS club, but that was only theory. This time, it will be hands-on, because I will put some of the club members to work, MUUUHAAAAHAHAA!!

I hope you like the article. You can download the newsletter here:

Hi from N. Cal.

I recently started re-living my childhood by watching all the old Robotech videos and found a paper model Veritech fighter. Built it, and now I'm addicted to papercraft models.

I recently started like a few weeks ago and I have a blogger page where I modded a free model and improved upon it in photoshop.

The best part of papercraft is that there's a community giving away free models and everyone collaborates.

New Models

Hello everyone and thank you all veterans on this Veterans Day!

I've just updated the GPSIII Satellite paper model at the downloads section.
I found new photos of the spacecraft and finally one with the solar panels.
Many parts were re-colored, graphics corrected and the solar panels now have a realistic look along with new directions.

With that, I uploaded Galileo FOC Satellite which is the Europe's own global navigation satellite system to the downloads section.
It should be available soon.

Also, I have some new models on Ecardmodels.com - Reflecting and Refracting Telescopes (in one kit) and the Van Allen Probes paper models.

Any mistakes or comments, please let me know.

Feeling Greaat!

Hi there all!
Became a new member last night(late). Already, having read my profile as 'Junior member' I feel great, (as I'm retired). What a super place this is. Hoping to rekindle my love of paper modelling here after a long time due to work;;);)My main interest is in steam related subjects.

Looking for JSC 1:400 USS Intrepid

I started working on this model around 15 years ago and decided that I need to finish it. After trying to figure out where I left off I realized that I lost the remaining dark blue pieces. :(

I googled for JSC Intrepid but only found the JSC website and the model was "out of stock".

Does anyone have a pdf of the blue parts that I could use?

Thanks,
Stan

Kunigunde - Damsel of the Castle

Be greeted your cardboard cutter,

After I the noble knight Rudolf from Schreiber Verlag brought to life before fairly long periods,
It was now time for him to bring the sweet damsel to his castle, but behold yourself .................

In two and a half sheets spread 45 parts, which are distributed quite clear, a written and image building instructions can ever no question unanswered. The sheet does not seem to be difficult.

In order not to let the dress appear as smooth, the parts are made slightly wet with a damp sponge, and somewhat wavy.
The back is only once glued centrally.

Kind Regards from Austria ,
Kurt
