Yeehoo! .... guess who's now got a fibre optic connection?
Only "Fibre to the Cabinet" so far, but the cabinet is only 100m away.
I'm about to go on a crusade though ... "Oi! I signed up for "Fibre to the premises" mate. Where's the other 100m of cable the SKY salesman promised me?" I did say that I had extreme doubts that they could supply that last OH feeder bit, but he was insistent that they could. I'll be over the moon if I get it, but maybe a reduction in subscription will be offered.
Extra ammo is that if SKY can only supply "Fibre to Cabinet", I could have got that subscription free for a year if I'd gone through BT (British Telecoms).
Under the circumstances, getting a reduction has gotta be worth a try, but bottom line is I'm happy as a sandboy with what I've got, and the icing on the cake is the package includes line rental and free UK calls anytime ... all for £10+ cheaper than I was paying for the previous crap all copper service, that only gave free calls at evenings and weekends.
So gone are the days of five hour downloads, and waiting 'til after midnight to get them. I just downloaded a thirty page .pdf ... just to have a look at it. It took 1 minute to download. Nah, didn't want it ... in the bin it went.
