Roscoe, Snyder, & Pacific

As a youngster, I spent a l lot of time visiting my uncle's lumber yard in Roscoe, Texas, Right behind the yard there was a small Santa Fe freight yard. I would spend many hours watching what was one of the most successful short line railroad companies in America: the Roscoe, Snyder, and Pacific Railway. The RS&P was a connecting line that shuttled freight between the Santa Fe and Union Pacific lines after halting passenger service in the 1950's. Slow and steady, I remember the twice a day trips. You could almost tell time just listening for the slow and lazy horn.

Nostalgia hit me today and I decided to do a repaint of RXR's little HO scale SW series locomotive. This model will represent engine #600.
