Having recently finished Visual Spicer's Starfighter-X, I decided to make a start on his R2-A4 model which I bought at the same time. Just as the Starfighter-X is the designer's version of a Star Wars X-wing, this model is 'inspired' by the R2-D2 droid, also from Star Wars of course. This is my progress after one evening's work:-
As was the case with the Starfighter-X, everything is going together really well and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Because some of the parts are actually quite big, I've decided to laminate them using the 160gsm card I usually use with some 80gsm copy paper, to create 240gsm thick pieces. This is working well so far, and is making a noticeable difference to the strength and rigidity of the model.
This will be a birthday present for my niece (27 this year!), as R2-D2 is her favourite Star Wars character. Her birthday isn't until November so I should have plenty of time to finish it!
