Xacto vs Scalpel in 3rd world economy

With our local economy taking a dive, I have had to take a hard look at the cost of blades. As about everywhere in the world, once sterile scalpel blades reach their expiry date, you can get them a dime a dozen. But I have not been able to get a scalpel handle localy that I like. I decided to try modifying one of my knifes to take scalpel blades. I wanted to save the jaws at the front as much as possible, so I took a 'Twister' scroll saw blade and fixed it between two pieces of dowel, after I first threaded it thru the bottom of the jaws and sawed the slot down about 8mm, even including the angle of the scalpel blade tang. Now I have a knife that can take standard xacto type blades and scalpel blades. Now all I have to do is replace the pink aluminium with a nice hardwood shaft, and it would be perfect.
