Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 717 1:87 scale

Whenever we flew to Hawaii, I would walk around the waiting area with our granddaughter. Our flight was on Hawaiian Airlines and I would tell her our plane was the one with the lady (Paulani) on the tail. This is the reason for wanting to build paper model of a Boeing 717 in HAL livery. However, I could not find a free model in 1:87 scale. So I decided to design the patterns myself using Sketchup and some scale drawings that I found on the internet. After unfolding the model in Sketchup, the next step was to import the patterns into Adobe Illustrator, add the livery starting with the graphics in Gerry1966’s 1:300 scale model and then adding details from photos found on the internet. I am starting with the tail first because if I can’t the graphics and livery right, I may abandon this project and wait for someone else to do the design work. In the meantime, as a way of giving back to the paper model community, I am sharing the patterns as I go along, hopefully to completion. Next step, the tail cone.
