I have been intrigued for years by Michael Dazzo's concept cars, and I finally made the plunge and built one. For my first effort, I chose his 1970 Lancia Stratos.
The Italian design team Bertone created a futuristic and super low (33 inches tall) beauty powered by a midship 115 HP 1.6L V6 engine. It was unveiled at the 1970 Turin Motor Show with much acclaim and excitement.
Michael's designs provide the modeler with skins only and leave it up to the builder to determine if and where to score, bend, fold, and place glue tabs or internal glue strips. For experienced card modelers, this is really no big deal, and his step by step build threads here in the forum that accompany each model pretty much eliminate any guesswork.
I encountered no difficulties during the build. Everything fit together very well, and the finished model is really attractive. Michael did a good job capturing the difficult body shape, aided by effective use of light and shadow. I reduced the size of the model quite a bit at printing, wanting a finished product that would fit onto one of my bases. Using the 33 inch height of the actual car as a guage, my model comes in at 1/30 scale. I'll follow up with some final photos after I get it mounted on a base.
