Hi all, here is a little locomotive I built as an out of the rut model. It is very simple, the original was on a post card from way back when. It has only one piece, and is meant to stay together with tabs in slots. The chimney and dome are simply cut from the boiler and bent up.
I fiddled with the image a little bit using Gimp. I made the chimney, dome and the other thing that sticks up to be separate parts, and also double sided. I removed the tabs and slots and extended the railing around the coal bin. I also slightly adjusted the size of some parts as the left and right side didnt match too well where they joined. It only took probably half an hour and about ten minutes to actually make it. I added a little plate to the front to fill in a gap on the original.
I think it looks pretty good side on, though a little slim head on. It is certainly an attractive little model on the shelf. There are five more in the series that I could find on the internet, which I hope to get around to doing as well.
I printed on 4" x 6" paper to test build, then slightly smaller on 4" x 6" card.
