P-51 D Mustang Happy Jacks' in hands of its Pilot

Time came to give the P-51 Mustang "Happy Jack's Goes Buggy" scale paper model to the owner of the real Happy Jack's, Dr. Bruce Winter.

Thanks to my good friend AIRDAVE (Dave Winfield) who designed this model, this goal was accomplished.

I've seen Dr. Winter fly his Mustang at the airshows here in Texas. Now it was my turn to make this homage to him and to the men who fly and work on the airplanes of WWII.

We had a doctor's appointment on Saturday, March 21, at one of the hangars in the San Antonio International Airport. Doctor Bruce arrived (in his doctor's uniform) under a heavy rain. But that didn't stop members of the Alamo Squadron Modeling Club to meet him and do a walkaround of the Mustang.

I am pleased to say that Dr. Winter was amazed when he saw the model, and more when I showed him a printout of the unbuilt model.

He then gave us many remarks of his Mustang, and opened the canopy for us, to take pictures and then he let me climb to it for closer look at some details in the cockpit.

The model is for sale now at ecardmodels .

Special thanks to another good friend, Robert Turner (3Turner) for the excellent photographies.
