Gorch Fock / USCGC Eagle

for better or for worse.. this is my first attempt at a paper model. I had purchased the Schreiber Bogen model of the Gorch Fock at a second hand store many years ago and just filed it away for " some day". Later on I worked graveyard shift taking service calls and had many dead hours , so I photo-copied the sheets (as I did not want to mess up a good model from inexperience) and began assembly. I set it aside again after the hull was completed and I changed shifts. Years later I retired and pulled out the model again. I printed the masts and yardarms in color on matte photo paper and finished it this winter (2015). With the hull being colorless on white paper it looked like its sister ship the cutter Eagle so I made up graphics to give it character and painted the boot topping with black magic marker. Looking back I should have just built the original model but after putting so many hours into the copy paper hull I just kept going. there are many obvious mistakes if looked at closely but I think it still looks good.
