1/50 Panzer I.A

I've been on an armor kick recently, and just finished the Panzer I.A from Robototehnik. It was a pleasure to build, with no fit or finish issues, and has a lot of detail for a model that measures only about 1.5" x 3". I used small diameter solder for the exhaust and vent pipes, and a length of .012 guitar string for the antenna. The machine guns are fashioned from bits of beading wire. The only tedious part of the build was cutting all the wedge shaped pieces from the road wheels. I still need to fashion towing hooks for the front of the hull (not included in the kit), and wrap a bit of fine chain or twisted wire "cable" around them. The base is the same one I use for many of my 1/72 scale aircraft. I textured it with an oak woodgrain, and glued a piece of 0.5mm cardboard to the top upon which I placed some very simple groundwork - too simple I think. I'll gussy it up with some root fiber branches, etc.

While I'm on a roll, I'll be starting the 1/50 Robototehnik Panzer II next. It's printed and ready to go. Until I get bored, my plan is to build the main Panzers (and some of their derivatives) in order from I to VI.

The pics aren't too bad this time. Enjoy!
