The Red Lancer

This model was built in 1969, I was still a student second year engineering, no internet, no computer..the only references I had were books and period prints. Anyway this model is made of mat board, toilet paper, a candle, a piece of wire, rigging string and regular paper! The skeleton is a series of vertical and horizontal sections of the human body (scale about 1/11)this was wrapped in toilet paper and given a coat of primer. the head and hands are made of wax. all the white parts are regular paper. The sword is a laminated business card stock. It was given as a present to my design prof, a few years later I noticed that it needed a few repairs so I took it back, only to learn that my prof died of a heart attack! I kept the model until I decided to refurbish it it in 2015, The amount of info on the subject was great, so I decided to change the pipe smoking lancer to a lance holding one. The epaulettes are string colored yellow (they are intentionally stringy for NCOs), the aiguillettes are braided thread , the buttons are regular pins, the helmet is the original one, but had a new dutch cockade and braiding. So that is a scratch built paper model I guess.
