My name is Mike and I have been involved in all forms of modeling for the past 60 years. During this time I have been into free running ships, aeroplanes cars and then many years of R/C, dioramas, railways, kite flying, scratch building - you name it!
Yet - although I have entered many exhibitions, competitions and been aware of card modeling, I have only recently discovered what I have been missing. I did a load of reading on the subject on the web and my oh my, why didn't I do this before. I always viewed it as something for the kids but I am stunned by the complexity and beautiful results that are achievable. Now that I am fully retired (I was a clock and watchmaker - precision mind you see!), this is going to be my way forward from now on. I have downloaded one free ship model to learn the techniques on and have been promised the HMV "Feldmarschall" for an anniversary gift in a couple of weeks time. I will post a detailed build with photos when I get going. Still collecting tips and making tools for now. It's a bit like I've just discovered the rest of my life. Luckily my wife Maggie is a paper crafter as well (greetings cards), so I may have a spark of interest rather than a bored stare!
