Hi all, here are two little battleships. They are about 1/800 scale. I have so many models on the go, and never finish anything. I decided to make these and finish them. I am very happy with the results.
The white one is an Oliver Bizer model. It resembles very closely the battleship Potemkin. I actually started this a couple of years ago, and cant remember why I stopped making it, as I was so close to finishing it. I made the masts myself to more closely match those on the Potemkin. I also added cranes for the anchors. Otherwise it is as Mr Bizer designed it.
The grey one is the battleship Mikasa. I have 1/200 and 1/400 Mikasas as works in progress. This one was a joy to make. It took only a few hours over a couple of days to make. It is a free download from Papercraft Etsutan. The download is a very basic black and white model as you can see below. The picture is from the website.

I used Gimp to colour it and I laminated a few parts here and there to give it a more 3D effect. I also made the gun barrels and masts differently. The ventilators were borrowed from the Potemkin.
My wife, who visited the real Mikasa with me, liked it, and said it looked just like what she remembers, which was a nice compliment.
There are several other battleships and cruisers of the Japanese navy available. I plan to see what I can do with them in the future.
