Merry Christmas to me!
I've had Halinski's USS Gambier Bay for some time and Halinski's Fletcher-class destroyer USS Heermann just arrived from GPM. I plan to build them both as waterline models and display them together on an ocean base. The photo below is similar to what I have in mind. This pic comes from an article on "Making Waves" by Frank Spahr. Check it out at finewaterline
I'm not much for writing detailed build threads but I will post updates now and then. I expect this to be a long project.
I forked out the extra cash for the brass photo-etch set for the Heermann. This will be my first time fiddling with photo-etch details (except for the railings on the Bismarck) so I'll post my impressions of that process.
It's funny; the Bismarck nearly drove me crazy near the end of that 10-month build but now it seems I have ships on the brain. Go figure.
Cheers,
