Götzenburg Castle Möckmühl Schreiber-Bogen

Here is my build of Götzenburg Castle Möckmühl published by Schreiber-Bogen.

According to the history account in the model pages the essential parts of the castle go back before 1250. It has been modified and added to throughout the centuries. During a seige in 1519 the lead from the windows and doors was used to make bullets. Since there was no water available both the people and the horses drank wine. Betcha there was some steak de cheval partook of too.:)

I looked for the actual building by searching for Götzenburg Castle Möckmühl using Google Maps. The search turned up some kind of hotel in Jagsthausen which when viewed in Earth view did not look like the outline of the model. The actual castle is in Möckmühl which is around 8km west of Jagsthausen.

I found it by zooming out until I noticed the town of Möckmühl out west. Scrolling to there then zooming in and using Earth view showed some photos of the town with the actual castle. Triangulating using the views from the photos allowed the finding of the castle which when viewed in Earth view had the same outline as the model.

Using Google Maps find Stuttgart in SW Germany then follow Highway 81 north toward Würzburg. You will find Möckmühl a little past Heilbronn to the west of Highway 81. Jagsthausen is to the east of the road. Zoom in on Möckmühl with Earth view until you see an athletic field. To the north and west you will see an open field sort of circular shaped. Just to the south of that field are some trees and the Götzenburg Castle Möckmühl. Looks like roads L1095 and L1025 form a dip to the south of the site.

There are 3 sheets of parts printed on A3 size paper. That makes 5 pages of parts and a cover sheet. There are some basic intructions in text form both German and English along with a pictoral representation of the contruction. One page has some dash-dot indicating where some gluing is to be done to contruct the outer walls.

The ground bas has a neat shape to it.

The cut out section helps when attaching the central building.

Note that the stepped gables have nothing on the reverse side. More on that later. I pays to read all of the instructions before starting.:)
