Murph's P38F Repaint

This is a repaint of Murph's P38F, built at 1/48. The scheme I used was of a plane flown by CPT Robert L. Faurot of the 39th Fighter Squadron (didn't see any more in depth designation, though it was a Pacific Theater plane).

I did a few other modifications to the model. I redesigned the turbo chargers to make them more 3D. I used a four piece spinner (off of Air Dave's Spitfire) that I changed to a 3 bladed configurations. I also used the landing gear and wheels off of the Spitfire which modified to fit, with additional modifications on the front wheel. I designed a spar similar to the ones you will find on John Dells models to reinforce the wing and set the dihedral, then laminated an piece of card in the top and bottom of the wing for strength. I also laminated another piece into the stabilizers to hold their shape and make them stronger. Then I built wheel wells into the model.

I really like the model, especially the way the nose is designed without petals, though I wouldn't necessarily say it is the easiest one I have ever built. I think the propeller blades are a little long (so if you build it check before you glue them on) also make sure you measure the distance between the booms and fuselage so you can get them straight.
