Jasna Gora Monastery - Poland

The Jasna Góra Monastery in Czestochowa, Poland is a famous Polish shrine to the Virgin Mary and has been one of the country’s place of pilgrimage for hundreds of year. The name Jasna Gora means Luminous Mount. The image of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa to which miraculous powers are attributed, is one of Jasna Góra's most precious treasures.

Jasna Góra Monastery was founded in 1382 by Pauline Monks who came from Hungary at the invitation of Władysław, Duke of Opole. We will be visiting this Monastery on our Cathedralquest to Poland early this summer.

The model, like the one I just finished of Wroclaw and Krakow that ricleite just completed (both which can be seen on this pape of Architectural Models), is published by GPM in Poland. It has been interesting to compare the three kits, which are different in their construction. The directions are in Polish, which my software translated. There are very well numbered drawings. The front tower looks to be challenging.

The Jasna Gora kit also had the extra support system along with the extra tracery for the windows. It does not have stained glass sheets for the windows. I have just started on this model. The photos show the nave of the monastery with inserted windows and tracery.
