Poppenhuis (Doll's House) - Thoth - 1:6.5

Decided to try something totally different this time. A piece of furniture, actually a Doll's House from around 1750 found in the Frans Halsmuseum, Haarlem, Netherlands.

Usually I'll scan and print new sheets. In this case, decided to use the original because the art work on the rooms and wood grain textures of the furniture printed on the coated card stock used looked real good. Would have been hard to duplicate with a printer.

The rooms are all crafted as individual units which are then glued together to form the bases for the furniture walls and top. Since the backs of these units are all uneven, had to create a lot of extra filler which was done using styrofoam sheet material in different thicknesses as well as chipboard to create the rectangular shape of the furniture piece. The top also has a styrofoam sheet filler piece. All the legs and beams were also reinforced with chipboard. With all that extra work, the finished piece is pretty solid.

Fun to build and looks good when completed. Added photos of the the build. Showed a couple of rooms with the individual pieces that make up the room. All the room units are built like that.
