This Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.7 is a paper model that I drew, painted and assembled in 1997. The data was taken from a Windsock Datafile on the R.E.5/R.E.7. The datafiles include 1/72 and 1/48 scale drawings. I used them as a basis for the pencil drawings at 1/32, already with the model in mind. The parts are drawn by hand. As the shapes are simple, a simple calculator was enough. Painting is by hand, too. Most of it is in gouache but I used pens and color pencils, too.
The model is almost 20 years old but the pictures, taken last Sunday, show that the colors stood well. At the time, I only knew very simple paper kits. GPM, Halinski and the like didnt yet enter my vocabulary. So, if I wanted a plane, it was necessary to do all the work and not just buy a kit and assemble it
