Several months ago, Diderick A. den Bakker posted a notice that he was going to order models from Forbicolla, and we should contact him if we wanted to be included. I found this company's webpage, which included mostly models of Milano, Italy. I had visited Milano in 2004, The façade was being restore and the entire front of the Duomo was covered. The only model that I could find was of St. Ambrogio Abbey, which I made a number of years ago. I particularly wanted a model of the Duomo,so I ordered several familiar Milano models from Diederich.
When the kits arrived, I took a day off from Mezquita to start the Milano Duomo. The kit is more than just the cathedral as was their older kit. The new version contains the Piazza in front of the cathedral along with the façade of a several buildings on the left side of the cathedral.
The model is rather small but has a lot of parts. There are good drawings showing the construction. Mike Stamper recently found a model of the Duomo on Canon. I downloaded and printed out the page with the Façade. The façade of Forbicolla model is 2 3/4 " high and the Canon model is 3 1/2 "high. So very little difference in size. The roof of the Duomo is filled with spires and pentacles. The Forbicolla model contains these parts, but the Canon model does not.
I have worked on this model a little since I finished the Mezquita.. Below are some photos of my work so far. I should be able to finish it in the next couple of days and give you more photos.
