Julius Perdana's MD-11 KLM, about 1/200

This model was downloaded from Julius' website, Paper-Replika.com, in last March but didn't get much build done because of other beta build projects that required speedy actions. The MD-11 was printed on 9 pieces of 4x6" photoprints after having been scaled down to almost by half. The exact scale is 1/194. Why? I was then beta building Aaron's TriStar and had to scale it down to 70% of the original templates to fit on the 4x6 photoprints and thus this peculiar scale of 1/194 came by. I wanted to compare other makes of trijets by other masters on the same scale/size, so the MD-11 was based as such.

OK, long enough, and let me show you the final product of this beautifully designed KLM passenger jet by Julius.

HMS Hercules cruiser? Calling on the steam experts

There is what appears to be Chinese pirate seller on Ebay selling some kits I recognize but I saw one I do not. It is labeled the Hercules Cruiser. Remember these people are calling a certain Brit BB the Prince Welsh so the name might be dodgy. Has 2 2x2 round turrets fore and aft. 7 casemate guns on each side, white hull above the WL, red below, 3 black funnels, clipper or ram bow No nationality obvious. Any guesses as to the original kit? Looks late 1800's to me but waddo I know?

1 Tower Will boot with a Linux (Ubuntu) thoumb-Drive, but will NOT see anything on that H-D
Just that it is 1 TB and "UNKNOWN"
Not sure how I will retrieve anything off that
The other does NOTHING!!

That H-d Is openable on the first tower and I am removing all data I can

I do Not know if the "Recovery Partition" that is part of Win8 will work
It has not done a complete refresh, etc yet, so believe I need the install dvd

I MIGHT be able to pay $5.oo or so, but H-P or worse MicroCrap price......

Worms Cathedral-1:300-Schreiber-Bogan

Finished the Cathedral at Worms a few days ago but had some ailments that have slowed me down in posting.

While the cathedral has a rich history dating back to the 1100's, it is arguably most famous for the meeting (Diet) that took place in 1521 where Martin Luther was examined for his position on indulgences (among other things)...resulting in the Protestant Reformation.

Model is of average difficulty and goes together very well.

Dimensions are length 39cm, breadth 17, height 22

Any Inkscape gurus aboard?

If so, can anyone confirm for me whether Inkscape has multi-page support? The most recent information I've found on the interwebby is that two years ago it did NOT except through the use of a rather glitchy plugin.

If that's still the case, do Inkscapers use separate layers for separate page layouts?

TIA

AN Inviation to Dinner on the Savannah

This is not for the squeemish.
Young children and more than a few adults might find this ultra real paper model from CrazyFishLady very disturbing.
Think twice before clicking the link, you have been warned.

Milano Piazza del Duomo

Several months ago, Diderick A. den Bakker posted a notice that he was going to order models from Forbicolla, and we should contact him if we wanted to be included. I found this company's webpage, which included mostly models of Milano, Italy. I had visited Milano in 2004, The façade was being restore and the entire front of the Duomo was covered. The only model that I could find was of St. Ambrogio Abbey, which I made a number of years ago. I particularly wanted a model of the Duomo,so I ordered several familiar Milano models from Diederich.

When the kits arrived, I took a day off from Mezquita to start the Milano Duomo. The kit is more than just the cathedral as was their older kit. The new version contains the Piazza in front of the cathedral along with the façade of a several buildings on the left side of the cathedral.

The model is rather small but has a lot of parts. There are good drawings showing the construction. Mike Stamper recently found a model of the Duomo on Canon. I downloaded and printed out the page with the Façade. The façade of Forbicolla model is 2 3/4 " high and the Canon model is 3 1/2 "high. So very little difference in size. The roof of the Duomo is filled with spires and pentacles. The Forbicolla model contains these parts, but the Canon model does not.

I have worked on this model a little since I finished the Mezquita.. Below are some photos of my work so far. I should be able to finish it in the next couple of days and give you more photos.

Hello from Western Pa

Hello

I have been a reader of this forum for a while now and I thought it time to join so I may post and ask a few questions as I explore this hobby. I have had enough of on line games. I have been gathering materials and tools. I think it is the McGyver spirit that excites me. Seeing things crafted of card and sticks and bits of this and that. I will try to read through the content already here but, there is so much that I am sure I will ask about something that has already been answered. I apologize in advance.

Coming soon- OSIRIS-REx model

Hello everyone;
In the shadows of the up coming launch of the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft (Sept 8),
I am finishing my rendition of the OSIRIS-REx paper model. I plan to release it in the downloads next week.

Photos of the rough build is below. Any comments are welcome.
Its not perfect, but I think it's a decent representation of the actual spacecraft.
Looking forward to the launch on Thursday, September 8.

Next design - the CYGNSS Satellite.
