Hi everyone,
This is my 1st work in progress thread, it is for my current build which is HMS LANCE, an L Class Destroyer, that was only in service for a year when she was hit by dive bombers whilst in harbour undergoing repairs, and written off.
My 2 previous builds never made it to completion, but the 1st taught me a lot about preparing the hull etc, the 2nd taught me more around the finer details. I'm hoping I can pull together what I've learnt so far and with hints and tips from this community I can make it to the end and get better along the way.
1st up a few pictures of the Kit, I've purchased the Laset Cut frames and the barrels for the kit.
I assembled the laser cut frames, following which I've roughly filled the gaps between the formers with corrugated card. Once this was completed I covered the whole lot in Polycell Lightweight Filler.
After this its a case of sanding and filling, sanding and filling until I get smooth surface following the shape of the formers. So far so good and whilst there are a few light srface imperfections I'm happy with the overall shape. But I guess I'll see how good it is when adding the hul parts.
Meanwhile whilst the filler was drying etc I started work on the rear superstructure and got the main parts together, as below. Next steps will be to get the main hull parts on and continue with the rear superstructure small parts.
Thanks for looking, any criticisms, pointers or tips gratefully received. It's the only way to learn.
