Hi all,
I wanted to share one of my January builds.
As most know, I am a huge fan of the Dakar Rally, and more so the Truck Category, but the models I have built fall in the Car Category.
The Toyota Auto Body Co, released two models, each on 2 A4 sheets of paper, of the Land Cruisers that raced in the 2014 event, running on Bio Diesel.
The blog of Toyota UK has a write up on the models and the actual cars that raced Build yourself a Dakar Land Cruiser - Toyota
The page with the models can be found here ????? | ??????????? [?????]
The body of the cars are made up from just 2 pieces, the top, and the sides and bottom.
In the picture above you can see the two cars built up, and the wheels that come with the kit, and what I have decided to use in order to make the wheels more 3D.
I used the treads from Volker's Team De Rooy Iveco Powerstar Torpedo Race Truck from the 2015 Dakar, as that was another model I have been working on, and found that the threads were the right width for what I wanted on the Land Cruisers.
Here is the first of 4 axle and wheel sets installed on one of the Land Cruisers
The axles are thick paper Candy Apple sticks, bought at a local baking supply store.
And finally, a finished Land Cruiser
What isn't shown in the pictures are the covers to the axle channels, to keep the axle in place, which in turn allows the axles to freely turn, and allows me to race them on my work bench.
