thresher and steam tractor

I posted a review of a steam truck recently and said how much I had enjoyed making it. The same designer (HS- design) also make other vehicles, buildings and other items for model railway enthusiasts.

I decided to stick with the steam theme so I ordered the above items plus a road workers truck that came with a tar heater!

All these kits are quite simple - there are very few "bits" on the tractor, just the two big wheel with a moving crank and propshaft. That's about all that is needed for railway sized vehicles.

The tractor can be made in either grey or green and the chimney is designed to be up or down - both chimneys are in the pictures.

The Thresher is also quite simple. Again, it has working wheels - one that can be attached to the tractor. The "workings" are just a few boxes with printing- I painted these to make it look a bit more lifelike. Both kits are very clean, but that all changed with various colour dry brushing.

The road workers trailer seemed to go with the others but the tar heater is a bit out of place. The kit includes a few signs and parts for an interior. I must admit that they can not be seen with the kit layout, so I made window -not the greyed out ones supplied and left the roof unglued. Again, I went to town with the dry brushing and also made the tiny beer bottles, which gave me an excuse to make the interior even more "stressed"

All these models were enjoyable to build and make an interesting set.

one point - the belt that connects the machines is a little stiff so once the machines are glued to a base, I intend to either glue it to the wheels or try watering it to make it a little more pliable.

Cheers
Mike
