Submarines - request for tips on printing

Hi
I like modern submarines and would love to print them out but I dont fancy using up an entire ink cartridge each time. Why can't submarines be painted white in real life? :-)

What is the best alternative method of getting the models without spending a fortune replacing ink cartridges?
