Hello dear friends.
It's been a year since I last logged in to this forum. Just wanted to say "Hi".
I've been absent for a while because of real life, you know how it is.
The job I'm in is good, but since my duties have increased,
so has increased the labor time. Now I don't have anytime for anything.
I can barely have some Sundays free, and I don't do much besides resting.
Paper modelling has somehow slipped a bit from my life. I like to be very
focused on the models, and it is rare the day when I can concentrate
enough for modelling.
I confess I also fell to the plastic temptation, and build a couple of
models last year, leaving paper ones aside for a while. But I recently
started another paper model. I just don't know when (if ever) I will
finish it.
As for my other hobbies, I still do some metal embossing when time
permits it. But it happens the same as with paper: time enough to
devote to it is not common.
My family is doing "fine". At least we're not too bad.
My sister in law lost her job, and now she opened a small grocery store
in our house. My brother is helping my father in the locksmith business.
My father was fine for a few months last year. He had the medulla
transplant last August (the procedure coincided with our birthdays
- my day is the 7, and his day is the 8) and after that he had some good
months. But recently the last blood tests show the cancer is returning,
and he surely will have to undergo chemotherapy again soon.
My mother was doing fine last year after her stroke, and was leading a
normal life. But this March a new aneurism was discovered. So she had
another brain surgery. This time it was not so smooth as the last one.
This time the physical sequels were more noticeable. And somehow the
speech was also affected.
But she's doing her best to face the challenges of life in this new situation.
Last August, just as my father was recovering from the transplant, and
shortly after our birthdays, our loved golden labrador died. She was only 10
years old, but the cancer she suffered was very aggressive.
We tried to have some good last days together. We still miss her a lot.
As for myself it has been interesting to deal with the daily job stress,
coping with depression, fighting with my own body, and saying farewell
to old friendships and relationships that were not working anymore.
As you can see, just some real life interfering with the hobby.
I have lurked from time to time, and have seen some interesting posts
and builds here in this last months. I just hadn't the time, or the mood,
to log in. But I've tried to keep an eye on the forum.
Can't promise that I will be back properly to paper modelling soon.
But I'll try to say hello more often.
Nice to see you again, all of you old comrades, and I see there's a lot of
new people too!
Have a nice day/night (wherever in the globe you are).
See you next time.
