In preparation for our up coming Cathedral adventure on the Baltic Sea, I have made 2 models, and am in the process of making more models of places that we will visit. Finding models for that area has been difficult except for Gdansk, Amsterdam, and St. Petersburg.
I have recently completed the model of the Savior on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg. I cannot read the name of the publisher as it is in Russian. There is a comment on the cover of the box which reads "no glue or scissors needed!" It is a punch out tab and slot construction which I have never done before. The directions were contained on a single large sheet with many drawings along with the part number. It was more difficult to assemble than I anticipated, particularly the towers and domes. As I would assemble certain parts, the previous insertion would come out and I would have to start over again. On all of the smaller parts, I resorted to glue. It is a very colorful and attractive model. I am looking forward to my visit.
A special announcement. Many of you have visited my webpage CATHEDRAL QUEST: our quest to experience cathedrals in Europe. For the past three years, I have not been able to update this site because my software became obsolete. It is taken my old brain all this time to learn new software and to update all the information to the Internet. I successfully uploaded my new site last week. What a cause for celebration! I still have daily details of the last three years to post. Each page takes at least a day to format and update. I do invite you to look at my 72 cathedral, church, and castle models which are now listed by countries CHURCH MODELS. There is also a page which lists all of the paper models that I own made and unmade by country CATHEDRAL QUEST:A list of all of the cities that we have visited in the models that I have made.
I do have a finish model of the Gdansk waterfront which is to include two small ships. I have made one, but the second one is exhausting my patience and skill. I really admire those of you who build ships. I would rather build 10 cathedrals than one ship. When I finish the second ship, I will post the whole scene.
