Got really excited about this as I have always had a soft spot for Autogyros, but have never seen a real one!
Until last month when I was in a small town called Hoedspruit. We were going to do some shopping, and lo and behold, overhead flew an Autogyro!
So, my wife left me behind and went to do the shopping, while I took pics.
The pilot was flying a pattern (he was flying short trips) where at the end of the trip he brought the Autogyro to complete standstill/hover in the air.
After a while, he then put the nose down at around 45-50 degrees, and came straight down at the ground, pulling out at the very last minute to land within 20 feet.
Extremely impressive. Except had I been a passenger I would have been as sick as a pig!
According to the Civil Register this is a GMBH MTOsport Autogyro.
