Sd.Kfz. 2 Kettenkraftrad (NSU HK. 101) (Murph's Models).

Hello modelers, how are you today?

As most of you saw in the last couple of days I am in fact back in business so to speak...

I want to take my paper modeling to a new level and I realized I had way too many threads

on my profile that either were completely random or they just had an imcomplete model.

Thankfully though I had another forum admin move them to the non-public viewing side of our forum.

I just want a fresh start in my modeling career. I also have a new camera that will be taking way better pictures with.

The model I will be building today is a Sd.Kfz. 2 Kettenkraftrad (NSU HK. 101).

A tracked vehicle produced by NSU Werke AG in Neckarsulm, Germany from 1939 to 1948.

This model was designed by Aaron Murphy so we can already get a sense of how great it will be once I am finished building it...

The model itself is nine pages, page seven and eight if you want to build the standard "easier" tracks.

(The ninth page being the harder, more difficult, tracks).

I couldn't help myself but vector the model.

I will be vectoring the pages as I go along as well

I am sure most of you know how Aaron adds text to the pages, other pictures, as well as diagrams.

The pages are blank (except for the piece) like you see in the pictures I added below.

They aren't like this on the actual kit.

Page one contains the lower half of the "hull".

I went ahead and vectored that.

The color I am guessing is "feldgrau" (German for field gray).

I also realized that the model should have some cardboard reinforcment.

I went into Inkscape and quickly drew up some patterns that should be laminated onto 1mm cardboard.

As you can see in the picture its pretty obvious where they should be located.

I made the actual parts that need to be laminated 2% smaller than the part they reinforce so the tabs will still bend down.

Though it is a close fit, the cardboard reinforcement parts do fit in the hull.

(The red is to show the outline of the hull "walls" in relation to the cardboard reinforcements.

.

Well, back to building for me!

...

(An hour and half later I get the hull entirely finished with the cardboard reinforcements!)

Here is a picture of the 1mm cardboard.

Again, nothing too fancy or difficult here.

The lower reinforcement piece glued into place.

This piece should be pushed right up to the "ledge" in front.

And here we go.

The first page of the lower hull finished with extra reinforcement.

Page two coming tomorrow.

Goodnight for now! (Its 4:00 AM)
