I am in the process of trying to scramble to get a few builds done for the upcoming Omacon IPMS event on March 28th, at the Strategic Air and Space Museum here in Nebraska. I ran into a few members of the local Fort Crook IPMS chapter while at the museum in the fall. They were showing and building some of their models. I of course stopped and had a look and a nice chat. I showed them some pictures of my models, and even ran up to the office to show them a couple I had built for the museum. I instantly got an invite to the competition. I'm now working on finishing up my models. I'm deeply considering doing a vendor table to do some giveaways and spread the paper word like Greg is doing in a few weeks in Des Moines. I'm just waiting to hear back from the event chairperson.
Anyway, here are my builds.
Murphs' Models B-25: Doolittle Raider "Ruptured Duck"
Thai Paperworks P-51 Mustang "Gunfighter" (the real plane is based here in the Omaha area)
OddBall Productions F-105 Thunderchief.
This one I have modded a bit to include a full load out of bombs. It has the Multiple Ejector Rack with 6 Mk.82s on the center line, two drop tanks on the mid-wing pylon, and will have 1 Mk. 84 on the outer pylon on each wing. I actually made this model for a friend who's dad actually worked on the Thuds in Vietnam for the 357 FS. I changed some markings on the tail and port intake to recreate a 357th plane. I've also built a nice wooden display base for the model. I'm using two square brass rods to mount the model. The smaller rod that's mounted to the base inserts into the exhaust pipe.
I will post more pics when it's completely done tomorrow.
