Thought there might be some interest in my latest project - a British Mark II Female. The model is Wayne's 1/72 Mark II Female (free download at Lnandships II) rescaled to 1/50. I've added a lot of laminated parts in a similar fashion as the Gun Carrier model was constructed. The tracks are the same as the Gun Carrier tracks (all the early British armoured vehicle used the same track). The track extensions were known as "spuds" and were an attempt to improve soft ground performance. They weren't particularly successful since the ground conditions around Arras and Bullecourt in 1917 were so appalling that even tanks could barely operate.
The tank modelled is #578 C21 "The Perfect Lady". The Mark IIs (50 of them) were ordered as a fill in to keep tank production going ahead of the expected start of Mark IV production. They were intended to be used only for training but were thrown into the battles around Ypres in April 1917. I haven't finished the sponsons yet - they are quite a surprise.
Regards,
Charlie
