Where Did our Professionalism Go?

I joined this site in 1996. I found there a community of mentors (long-time modelers) and a large community of students, as was I) It was an highly-respected, and respectful, community, run by moderators who were dedicated to the craft and who were not afraid to enforce "good order and discipline" This was all very good. I have stayed. Lately, however, I have seen an disturbing trend toward anarchy on this site: viz: A newcomer asks a simple question, and instead of being helped, he is ridiculed. Among the ridiculers are a few people for whom I formerly held respect. This makes me sick. Sincerely, JR
