Big Beautiful Doll P-51D Mustang Col. John Landers

Last year I met a local guy (Jeremy) who owns a local hobby Store.
He has an interest in the WW2 Big Beautiful Doll Mustang.

Jeremy showed me a large scale plastic kit he had built...and I told him that I offer a paper model version.
Although mine has a slightly different paint scheme (since its the Pacific aircraft).

This Doll was flown in the Pacific theater by Col John Landers, who later flew in Europe and commanded the 357th and 78th Fighter groups.
He flew P40s first, and then several different P38s and P51s...all named Big Beautiful Doll.

Anyway, Jeremy also expressed an interest in selling some paper kits in his store.
This requires me to supply at least one display model...he has some nice display cabinets at the front of his store.

I decided to build a new one...and I decided to build Big Beautiful Doll.

Unfortunately its taken me about 3 months to get this model finished.
Mainly because of other projects, like Koolwheelz models (LOL) and various things around the house.
Not to mention the Holiday season.

When I did work on it...I rushed to get things done.
Which resulted in me getting real sloppy and butchering a few areas.

I managed to fix most things, but this build is way far from perfect.
(none of my builds are perfect, but some are better than others).

I am proud to say, that the model was built straight "out of box" and it shows just what you can get from the kit.
Even with the many imperfections, its still an eye catching plane.

Heres a few photos of my 1/33 scale build of Big Beautiful Doll.
