1926 Bugatti Type 41 Royale

Sounds impressive, but not so much.

I did improve it a bit.

Background -- February 2018 brings the 90th anniversary of the publishing of H P Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu" in Weird Tales Vol. 11, No. 2, so a number of gamers are thinking Lovecraft this month.

Back in 2009, Scarecrow did an elder thing model that came with a set of investigators, Elder Thing paper model (28mm scale) | Cardboard Warriors forum. It was suggested that they needed a car.

Hmmm ... 1926 autos, and I was only able to find the Bugatti, https://web.archive.org/web/20080705.../cacarecos.htm

Flimsy wheels, no fenders, cartoonish folks inside, way too much white showing, impossible glue tabs, and I despise the blue roof.

After playing with it, here's the result

It's 1/56 scale to go with the 28mm gaming community, tabs going through the chassis, to make it more rigid, as well as having doubled the chassis thickness with an extra layer of card. I added an inner fender to get rid of some of the white and have fenders all around. 3d tires, even on the spare.

Much more the thing for an old-money scholar to travel in to investigate the occult.

EDIT-- two other things to note

There were only six of these built and only four of them originally sold. The Inline-8 produced more displacement than any other production civilian vehicle for the next forty years.

Some of these old toys can look pretty good with a little love
