1/144 fg f-100d, 3 tfw, 90 tfs

While conversing with a member of the forum, he said he is trying to build the
aircraft that he either flew in or interacted with during his tour in Vietnam, some 50 years ago.

This one's for you Dogface. Colonel Sir.

With the help of John Bowden, I was able to take the FG F-100, add markings
of aircraft 777, 3 TFW, 90 TFS, Bien Hoa AB, RVN, sometime in the 1966-1969 timeframe.

It's been five months since I built anything, so I decided to give the sore old finger
joints a workout. And it shows. There are a myriad of problems, but I wanted to sit down
and just build this week.

I did not build to perfection, I did not build to competition, I just wanted to build to completion!
If nothing else, to try and motivate myself to sit down at the old desk on a regular basis and build.

I rescaled the kit to from 1/60 to 1/144. Using photoshop, I changed the markings to represent
the earlier described aircraft, found on the F-100.org site.

I also slightly weathered all the panel lines, but used a very low opacity, as it is a small scale, and did
not want to overdo it.

I also added a small former to the intake area, to get the correct shape, as well as block it off.
I did the same with the exhaust section.

I replaced the flat 2D landing gear with rolled struts and retract actuators.

Using a piece of thin piano wire, I also added the folded pitot tube to the front.

Almost everything came out perfectly aligned, but some joints are not as clean as I would have liked.

Enough rambling, here are the pics.

And, just for grins, here is the original beta I did, in my first Red River silver, from about 12 years ago, with the presently done F-100
