I scratch built this Albatros Dr.1 in 1998. The basic reference is yet another Windsock book: Albatros Experimentals. The book includes 1/48 and 1/72 scale drawings, which I used to make the pencil drawings with the exact model dimensions. In this case, the fuselage has a curved cross section, which is trickier to model than the simpler square sections. In the early eighties, I made some computer programs (on a ZxSpectrum) to deal with this problem by numerical methods.
The book has a pattern for the lozenge camouflage, which I scaled to 1/32. Needless to say, painting the lozenges one by one (each color at a time) needed a lot of patience! The gouache colors still look good, after almost 20 years
