Dear all,
I have a question about resharing free models.
Some years ago, I started a (yet unfinished) paper model and released finished parts of it for free in a forum, where only members have access to the files, to have some control over the distribution of these files.
Now I got a message if these files could be reposted on Zealot (where I have never been a member and about which I heared only what has been written here on Paper Modelers, you can imagine what my opinion is then). I have answered that I don't want them to be reshared.
But I read the thread on Zealot, and I found a post by someone else (who was also a member here once), which disturbs me a bit:
"There is nothing preventing you from using that piece or any other as the author states only "No Commercial Use Allowed". That means it's up for grabs, as long it's for personal use., and can be redistributed by anyone, as no comment was made about that. It must be distributed in whole though, that is the "unwritten" GNU principal."
I ask you: Is this right? Do I lose every right against reposting a model, even if I shared it only with a limited group, because I shared it for free?
In general I don't mind my files being reshared, but somehow this special case together with the, in my eyes, very bold claims awareness, bugs me. So I'd appreciate if someone could tell me if this is right.
Please don't start discussions about politics here, that's not what I want.
Best regards,
Thorsten
