I recently completed a few World War II era German aircraft in 1:33 scale and wish to use them in simple dioramas--basically a plane with a small ground vehicle or structure on a circular wood plaque with some ground clutter. While many small, WWII era vehicles exist as card models I am having a bit of a Goldielocks problem--they are either too detailed or too simple for my needs.
Vehicles like the Jeep, Kubelwagen, Kettenrad, and Horch would work very well for my purposes. Three axle trucks or even a half-track would also work. However, the vehicles must include enough external detail to look good paired with an aircraft in 1:33 scale. Models with slab side wheels and closed interiors will not work. I have no real need for detailed running gear and engines since they will never be seen.
The Krupp Protze from ecardmodels (1/48 Krupp Protze Kfz. 69 with PAK 35-36 Paper Model) is almost there. I could probably scratch build enough improvements to make it work. I found a Kubelwagen that is also close.
Can any of you recommend some models that fit my criteria or should I scan and shrink some Polish card models?
Thanks for the help!
