1/72 M-3 Grant build and re-design

Hi all,

Over the last couple of nights I've been playing with rescaling and cleaning up the M-3 Grant from Mr. Takamoto. It is a pretty good design but at 1/100 scale it needed to be rescaled and the image cleaned up. I decided instead to trace out a new model from his design and rework how things went together. Here are my results so far. The model in the foreground went together almost 100%. I had trouble with some covers on the top deck of the hull in the rear.

Also attached is the line drawing for these test models. I'll be changing the tabs around and resizing the rear covers a bit.

Important message for the world

Due to a combination of budget cuts and customer complaints, the Federal Government has been forced to cancel April 1st. President Obama has written an executive order replacing it with April 15th, so make sure your tax forms are ready.

Those of you who have already started April 1st are hereby ordered to cease and desist, and to return any unused portions of the day to your nearest IRS Field office. Thank you.

Question about printing on different paper

What kind of difference does it make to print the same model on different paper stock??
For example
Print same file, same size on 20 lb, 24 lb, 65 lb, 80lb and 100lb paper..

How does this affect the actual build?

ZarkovModels March Summary

Hello all!

It's been a busy month for me and I wanted to share a recap on all updates that happened for the last month on ZarkovModels
I will also include what you can expect in April.

1. The catalogue expanded with all of Murph's Models - old and brand new.
Check them out here. (This is not replacing his own store, just supplementing it so that he reaches more people)

2. The catalogue expanded with Heinkel Models - Ship fans will be pleased. I've added a good amount but I am waiting for the rest to be sent to me so expect more soon.
Check them out here.

3. The Free models page has been updated with additional models, courtesy of Aaron.

4. I managed to salvage the lost Scale calculator from bestpapermodels and upload it for everyone to use.

What you can expect in April:

1. New models from Emil Zarkov.
Due to serious health problems his designs were delayed but I am glad to say he is feeling a lot better. He is 99% done with the next kits, just editing several details.
Some of them (but not all) are:
- Beechcraft C-12 TZUFIT
- Beechcraft RC-12D KOOKIYA
- IAF Pilots
- IAF TZUFIT operators
- New Messerschmitt variants (planned)
- New OV-10 Bronco variants (planned)
He is also planning several other variants of the pilots/drivers (e.g. civilian) as well as accessories.

2. More models from Marek Pacyński including new bundles with huge discounts.

3. More models from Aaron - whatever he sends me.

4. More Heinkel Models.

5. More free models!

Thanks everyone for the huge support! I am monitoring your feedback every day and I will continue to develop the site so it is easy and fun to use. All feedback and suggestions are appreciated and I take into account everyone's opinion.

Regards
Andrey

Can someone explain why is this happening, or an Admin to check if there is something wrong about it please?? (^^;

Unfolding the Oceanco Superyacht 「EQUANIMITY」

Hello,

I just created a 3D model of the Oceanco Y709 「EQUANIMITY」, in a way I can unfold it into constructable parts.
There are about 30 separated modules, from which three of them are made of parts of same or identical geometry.

Is someone with a Pepakura Designer license willing to help me unfolding her?

It is extremely important for me to build a supersized (roughly on the 1/87 or 1/72 scale) model and apply a RC chassis to it, as a ground waterline model.

I am planning to design other Oceanco models (the 「VITRUVIUS ACQUAINTANCE」 and 「TITAN」, and probably the 「MOONSTONE」, 「REDENTORE」 and 「STILETTO」) to make the same thing, and someday expose them at Oceanco's shipyard at Alblasserdam, the Netherlands.

New Sub Forum

Well, with the continued use of "Throwback Thursday", aka TBT, on every social media
site my wife and kids can come up with, I approached Jason about adding something like that here.

As there is a couple of sites that no longer exist, such as the original beginning of papermodels.com,
(cardmodels.net), the purpose of this area is to post pictures of builds done prior to the conception
of Papermodelers.com.

If you have pictures of a model you built before July of 2007, and never posted on PM.com, please do so!

Of course, it must be posted on a Thursday. Thats the whole point of "Throwback Thursday"!

I will start with the oldest set of posted photos I have. It is the Moska Mb Bis, by PaperWarbirds, in 1/144.

The date is Mar 19, 2004.

This model still exists, as a dust catcher on my moms tv shelf.

Election time

Nothing specific, but as quite a few of us will be asked to vote in the near or not too distant future, a cynical thought on election time in a modern democracy -

They who in folly or mere greed
Enslave religion, markets, laws,
Borrow our language now to bid
Us turn up in freedom's cause

It is the logic of our times,
No subject for immortal verse—
That we who live by honest dreams
Vote for the bad against the worse.

... with apologies to Cecil Day Lewis.

Mythbuster Adam praises paper models!

In an interesting question and answer session Adam discusses some of their experiments, views and funny happenings. But at one point, he describes how he became involved and developed a love for building things: Building papermodels by Allan Rose! Fun to watch!

MYTHBUSTERS Destroyed All Evidence of an Easy-to-Make Explosive | Nerdist

Cassini Spacecraft Model

I'm thinking that this might become my summer build. I haven't seen a thread for it though. Has anyone else built the NASA version (not the simple one)? I'm wondering if anyone has modified the available model with a colorized version too?

Mythbusters

Anybody familiar with the Discovery Channel show should remember Adam Savage.

I'm a big fan of Mythbusters, and have meeting Adam and Jamie on my bucket list.

I just saw this video:
MYTHBUSTERS Destroyed All Evidence of an Easy-to-Make Explosive | Nerdist

Watch at about the 30 minute mark, where he goes on about how he started with building paper models and went on about the guy who built the fully detailed airliner out of manilla folders.

I commented on his Facebook page and invited him to check out our little family here. Hopefully he drops by.

Another Macross MAC II

My first build here..
First off...
Thank you legal01 for the file, and Kjev for the inspiration to take this on.

I printed a couple test pieces just to get an idea of it's size. It is going to be big!

Then just for grins, printed another..
I think I better go with the smaller one.

Life Papercraft blog

LifePapercraft

Fans of the figurine check out this blogspot.

The start of a fantastic set of Zodiac statues attracted me in,

but there's a stack of other fantastic models. Anyone fancy a life-size Elsa?

And for the true artistes, there's some not so demure ladies too.;)

Millenium falcon

I can show you my build of the Millenium falcon based on Slawek.
Printed in scale 1:48, with inside of all cockpits, legs and stair and lighting.

Model show in Camberly UK

Following Tim's post, there is another show on 24 September.

Camberly is in Surry so there's no excuse for those who live south of the Thames!

Tim must be getting tired of listening to me all day and he may also be pleased to have others there so he can get a rest from all the questions from visitors.

So, we'd be pleased to meet fellow modellers either as exhibitors or visitors..

Cheers

Mike

New Models in Downloads

Good afternoon everyone.
I've just added two Sounding Rocket models in the downloads section, hopefully, they will be available soon.

I also added three models at Ecardmodels website, but after over three weeks, I have not seen them available for purchase.
Can anyone tell me how long it takes to see the models on the website after they were uploaded at Ecardmodels?

The models include:
IKONOS Satellite - said to be the first high resolution imaging satellite.
Astro-H (Hitmoni) - New X-ray telescope from Japan.
Terrier Improved Malemute Suborbital Sounding Rocket.

Once these are available, I plan on sending 4 more to Ecardmodels for sale,
all are sounding rockets...
Black Brant X
Black Brant XII
Talos-Terrier Oriole
Terrier Improved Orion

As you can see, I kind of went coo-coo for cocoa puffs on sounding rockets,
it's different from just designing satellites and space probes.
I hope you enjoy these.

Currently working on the Sergeant-Hydac Sounding Rocket.

Below:
First pic shows the two rockets in the downloads section.
The 2nd pics shows the 4 that I hope to send to Ecardmodels if the other
three models ever become available.
The 5th one is the Terrier Improved Malemute Suborbital Sounding Rocket
that I already sent to the website.

Visual Spicer's R2-A4

Having recently finished Visual Spicer's Starfighter-X, I decided to make a start on his R2-A4 model which I bought at the same time. Just as the Starfighter-X is the designer's version of a Star Wars X-wing, this model is 'inspired' by the R2-D2 droid, also from Star Wars of course. This is my progress after one evening's work:-

As was the case with the Starfighter-X, everything is going together really well and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Because some of the parts are actually quite big, I've decided to laminate them using the 160gsm card I usually use with some 80gsm copy paper, to create 240gsm thick pieces. This is working well so far, and is making a noticeable difference to the strength and rigidity of the model.

This will be a birthday present for my niece (27 this year!), as R2-D2 is her favourite Star Wars character. Her birthday isn't until November so I should have plenty of time to finish it!

Project Laika

The 60 th anniversary of the flight of Sputnik 2 Laika into space I want to organize an exhibition.
I want to expose photographs, paintings, documents, postage stamps but also models.
Models will show everything that was associated with the years of Soviet dogs into space.
I'm thinking about rockets, space modules, containers and spacesuits for dogs, models of monuments etc.
The models we manufacture of paper, plastic, metal, wood, rubber, plaster, etc.

The first model is made of plastic - Vostok rocket and rubber - lander. Scale 1:144.

The second model is made of paper.
It's Korolev Rocket 5A, which transported into space last two dogs outside Vostok.
1:96 scale model of their own production.

Dassault Super Mystère B2 IAF - Yoavhozmi

Hi everyone !
Today I've started to build my first aircraft designed by Yoavhozmi which is the Dassault Super Mystère B2 in IAF colors at 1/30 scale.
The instructions are very clear so the building is much easier than the Mig-29
Here is some pictures of the seat construction .

Lady Luck

Does anybody know where I can find a paper model of Lando's ship, the Lady Luck? For those who don't know, it is a Sorosuub personal Luxury Yacht 3000.

Happy Birthday Scifimodelfan

Dear Scifimodelfan:
Happy Birthday to you and may you just be able to make paper models all day long.
Enjoy,
Miles

The playmate of the French hussard 1807 by Zio

Pics are better than words and here they are. Zio had enlarged the bosom of this figurine and apart from that nothing more. Add-on is the toilet-tissue panty for the girl to maintain the moral standard of this forum for members and their family. If okayed by the admin people here, the un-censored pics may be released.
