MOTHER & HER CHILDREN THE Mk.I TANK IN ALL ITS GUISES
The Christmas and New Year break gave me the opportunity to start (and finish) a build I had been thinking about for some time.
2016 sees the centenary of the advent of armoured warfare with the introduction of the Mk.I tank onto the battlefield.
Using Waynes original Mk.I tank model (available over at Landships II), I redrew and rebuilt it to represent HMLS Centipede, or Mother following on from the initial trials with Little Willie, and the first of the instantly recognisable rhomboid-shaped tanks of the First World War.
On my original post of the build I mentioned that Id like to try and complete a set of Mk.Is as long as my build drive continued! Well, surprisingly, it has, and Ive completed the builds, six in all. All are redraws of Waynes original model plans for the Mk.I.
Ive posted below photos of all six together and will, later today post further photos of each individual tank I hope they are of interest.
If anyone can think of any other versions of the Mk.I (apart from the numerous experimental vehicles, the majority of which had internal, rather than external differences) then, Id love to know!
Ive just started a build of a male Mk.II (to highlight the change in upper access hatch), which will be followed by a female Mk.III, with the redesigned, smaller machine gun sponsons.
As always guys, I appreciate your feedback on my builds.
Shawn
