Packing Models for Transport

When I was asked by "Medicine on the Move" to build a paper model kit of the Zenith CH-801 for their traveling exhibit, I knew they would need a way to protect it in transit and storage.

I found a cardboard box that was the right size (I trimmed its height a bit) and used foam insulation board to make bulkheads to hold the model and its base securely in the box. Then I labeled every side of the box to indicate its contents and fragility.

You could use other materials for the bulkheads. I had the insulation board on hand.

I saw the model again at Oshkosh last summer, so I know it survived in good shape for at least 2 years.
