Some pics and a video of the Coelum Stellatum Christianum Christmas Ball offered by PaperPino. I printed the gores on one sided glossy photo paper which made the glue up quite .... interesting. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Next one will be on ordinary card stock and sprayed with a protective coating. Probably will mask the large glue tabs on the gores and spray the printed portion to protect them from gluey fingerprints.
Northern Hemisphere
Southern Hemisphere
The hemishpere gores went together easy. There are enough visual clues to make sure they lined up with each other. A little stretching helped and making sure you held the glue joints until the glue is dried is a must.
Joining the two hemispheres to form the ball did not turn out right. There were some significant gaps where the folds were not crisp enough and also some minor warping occured. I will explore another method of joining the two hemispheres when another one is made. Probably by decreasing the diameter of the equitorial reinforcements and placing them further into the hemishperes to allow some joining strips to be used at the base of each gore. But, I am not going to hold my breath until all of that is attempted. :)
